Trunk-Or-Treating

Amanda & Les invited us to the church where her Dad is the pastor for trunk-or-treating for the kids Saturday night. We all had a wonderful time.

First we sat down for some hotdogs. Well Dylan and I did. Dray didn't want anything, Nathan and Jordan had already eaten. But Jordan did have some puffs. After we finished up, we went outside for trunk-or-treating. Nathan held his bucket the whole time. He even said trick-or-treat and thank you to a couple of the people! After they visited all of the cars, it was time to go in and play some games. There was a cake walk and Dylan won twice! He was so excited that he won something. The last event of the night was the hayride. I thought it was just going to be a short ride up the road, but it ended up being about an hour event. We went through the neighborhood around the church. Some of the people from the church were giving out candy. So the kids got to do some trick-or-treating. We didn't know that they were doing that so Dylan didn't have his bag. Which meant we had to hold all of the candy he got. Dray and I took the babies to a couple of doors, but Jordan fell asleep and Nathan wasn't too happy toward the end. It was a lot of excitement for them. The best part of the night was when Dylan had went to one of the houses and came back with money (pocket change) and he said here Daddy this is for the church. I just felt like crying. I thought that was so sweet! So when we got back to the church, Dylan gave the money to Amanda and he walked with her to take the money to her Dad. Her Dad smiled and said he would put it in the offering plate. I asked Dylan when we left if he would like to go to that church and he said yes. That's the first time he has said yes about going to church in a while. I'm not feeling well today but we are going to visit there soon.

Happy 10th Anniversary To My Hubby!!!

Happy 10th Anniversary Dray!

Well, we should have the hardest part over with now!?!? We have been through a lot together in 10 years. Some of the most wonderful moments in our lives and some of the worst. One thing that I have known the whole way through is that I Love You! You are a wonderful Husband and Daddy. I know there aren't many men that would do the things you do for the kids and around the house, and I know I don't always show how grateful I am to have you in my life, but I don't know how I would live without you.

IT'S G-O-N-E!!!

Nathan's appointment with the neurologist was today and we got some GREAT news! The cyst that was where the corpus callosum is supposed to be, is GONE! If you remember back two years ago right before Christmas Nathan had an MRI and it showed a cyst. His Neurologist at the time said that he needed to see a Neuro Surgeon, that he was going to have to have surgery to drain the cyst. Well when we got to Dr. Johnson's office (the neuro surgeon) he said that there was no need to do surgery because the cyst wasn't that big. But he said that it could get bigger with time so he would need a follow up MRI later on. Now here we are two years later and there is no cyst! All thanks to the good Lord above!

One more pumpkin

Dray and Dylan stopped yesterday after Dylan's golf game and got another pumpkin. Dylan got to help more on this one.



The only thing bad about carving words is after a couple of days, the pumpkin starts to shrivel and you can't read it anymore. I don't know if Jordan's and Nathan's are going to hold up until Halloween!

Pumpkin Carving

Saturday evening we went to buy each child a pumpkin. Dylan just LOVES going to pick out pumpkins. Jordan was sleeping, but I got Nathan out to see all of the pumpkins. His eyes lit up and he started smiling. After around 20 minutes of looking for the most perfect pumpkins, they finally found them.

We normally carve the traditional two eyes,a nose and a mouth on our pumpkin, but about a month ago Dylan bought a book with some of the more detailed carvings in it. So Dray said he would try it. Dray and Dylan went to Wal*Mart and bought some carving kits. Dylan decided he wanted a witch and we decided on a BOO face for Nathan's and Trick or Treat for Jordan's.

After all of the pumpkins were carved, Dray roasted our pumpkin seeds. They were really good, he gets better and better at it every year.

The pictures don't do the pumpkins justice. Dray and Dylan did a really good job on them.

A Prayer For Pam

I've had all kinds of things to post about over the weekend, but I'm just now getting a chance to sit down and gather all of my thoughts and pictures.

Friday night, early Saturday morning, I got a call from my brother-in-law, Rick. He told me that my sister, Pam, had a heart attack. I couldn't believe it! She's only 36!

She was immediately taken to the Cath Lab. They found one clot and were able to clear the artery. She got to go home yesterday morning (her birthday), but last night she started having chest pains again so she spent the night at the hospital just for observation. The pains were due to inflammation. She is doing better today.

Please keep her in your prayers.

Doctors, Report Cards & A Festival

We've been pretty busy the last couple of days. On Wednesday we went to Dr. Dy-Go (Nathan's feeding doctor.) He weighs 24.4 and is 3' 2"! We are making progress! She gave him a powder that goes in any moist food. It is a calorie booster. She said that he needs to weigh at least 26.8. He goes back Dec. 7th so hopefully he will put on some pounds.

On Thursday, Nathan had therapy which went well. Cindy said he was having trouble shifting his weight when he was walking. So we are now working on it at home. In speech, Miss. Laura gave Nathan Mac & Beef, on a tray, for Nathan to feed him self! Oh yes, he was a mess! He loved playing in it though. After he had it all over his hands he decided to rub his eye. He had sauce all in his eyelashes. Then he thought it would be fun to fling the Macaroni in the floor, of course it had to go on my shoe. The really funny part was when Miss. Laura went to give him a bite and he reached up and grabbed her arm which got sauce on her shirt sleeve and her wrist. It wouldn't have been so bad if he hadn't just had a bath before we went. Anyway, Thursday was also report card day for Dylan, Parent/Teacher conference for me. He made a B in spelling, a B in math and a D in reading. The teacher asked me if I thought he had a comprehension problem and I told her that I wasn't sure. I told them that I would like for them to go ahead and test him, that way if there is a problem we will know early on. Part of me thinks that it is just Dylan not paying attention. She is suppose to get the papers together next week, so we should know soon. He was a little bummed that he did get a ribbon (Principals Honor Roll or Honor Roll). I told him that he can still make it next nine weeks. Oakland also had there Fall Festival last night. I had volunteered to help out, and we had not been to any of the previous years festivals. I'm glad we went, we had a good time. Every year before the festival every class has a theme basket. The parents send in items for the baskets then they are auctioned at the festival. There were 3 that I bid on and I got out bid on every one. Which was kind of disappointing. People were bidding high for those baskets. Dylan got to ride and play games. He also got a football painted on his face. At the end, I took over on one of the games, and Dylan loved it, of course he helped me. The prize for the game was candy and since it was the end, they were wanted to get rid of the candy so Dylan got him a bag of it.

Milk & Cookies

Nathan had Halloween Oreos and Milk the other night. It was the first time we have offered it to him and he LOVED it!

And The Race Is On

Well, I knew it was coming but I didn't know it would be this soon. Jordan started pulling his self up on the furniture yesterday! Yesterday he was only making it up on his knees but today he has figured out how to get up on his feet! He still has little balance so I have to watch him extra close.

Rides, Cotton Candy & Candy Apples

As most of you probably know, the fair was in town last week. We took Dylan and Josh Friday night. We got there around 6:30 or 7:00 and we did leave until 11:00! They were riding 95% of the time. Dray (for some reason) wore his sandals. And if you know Dray you know how cold natured he is. I told him that it was going to be cold and he said that he would be fine. Well he was, until around 9:00. Then of course he was ready cause he was freezing. But I did want the boys to get to finish riding all of the rides. By the end of the night Dylan was the only one still going strong. Josh looked like he could have fallen asleep standing up, Dray legs were giving out and I couldn't feel my hands and my feet were cramping. But it was all worth it to see Dylan have such a great time. He rode all but two kiddy rides. He wouldn't ride the ride that is like a mini drop zone. And he wouldn't ride in one of the haunted houses. Jason, Hope, Dessa and Kayla went Friday too. Josh and Dessa rode in the first haunted house and I asked Dylan if he would ride it if they said it wasn't scary. Of course he said no. But when they came out they both had their hands on the bar in front of them, with their heads back, with this terrified look on their faces. They said that was scary! Dylan said see I told you. I couldn't help but to laugh. There was one other haunted house but it didn't look like one because it was brightly colored, but the name of it was Nightmare Castle. I didn't tell Dylan the name of it but I asked him if he wanted to ride it and he said yes. When he got off he said that it was scary but then he said "That was AWESOME!" We all had a great time.

On Saturday we took Dylan and Nathan, We wanted to let Nathan see the animals and to see the fair. They didn't ride anything because it was ticket day and they charge way too much for the tickets. When we first got there Dray was pushing Nathan in his wheelchair. I knew that Nathan would get in free but this man came up behind us in the line and said that Dray and Nathan were free. Which I thought was really nice. We went to see the animals that Hollywild had out there and Dylan got to feed some of the goats. Then we went to see the horses and cows. There were two baby cows that were still wet from being born. They were so cute! Nathan got to pet a horse and he loved it! After we saw all of the animals we went into one of the buildings and looked at some old John Deere tractors. Dylan loved that part. After that it was on to the games. On our way, There was one of the blow up slides, it had the Hulk on the front. Nathan loved looking at it, so we stopped to let him look until he lost interest. He also loved looking at the ride "Freak Out". It is the ride that is a circle of seats and the circle goes around and around while the whole ride swings from side to side. It goes way up there. Nathan looked as if he couldn't quite figure that one out. Dylan wanted to pop balloons first, when it was time for him to get his prize, the man gave Nathan one too. At the next Balloon stand they had Dylan wanted to play it too, that man also gave Nathan a toy. The last game Dylan played was the strength test, that man brought a blow up hammer to Nathan before Dylan played. Before we left we got Nathan some cotton candy and when we got to the car Dray gave him a bite and he LOVED it!

I didn't take my camera with us either day. I wish I had of though, cause I had a lot of great picture opportunities.

As soon as I get some new pictures of the boys I will post them.

Good Report

Nathan got a good report from Shriners today. They said that there is nothing wrong with his spine. The MRI showed no abnormalities. They said that his spine looks better than it did at his last visit 6 months ago. He has built up his muscle tone some now so he is keeping his back straighter while he is sitting. He weighs 23lbs 15oz . Almost 24! His height is still the same, 2' 9".

Things going on...

I hope everyone had a great weekend!

Nathan and Jordan spent the night with Grandma Saturday night, so that Dray and I could take Dylan to see the movie Open Season. We had a great time. The movie was really good. Dray and I both made ourselves sick with the popcorn. We made the mistake of not eating before we went. So we both ate entirely too much. Yuck! It makes me sick just thinking about it!

Dylan went on a field trip today with school. They went to the Spartanburg auditorium to see a science circus. He said he had lots of fun. He got to see a robot. That is all he has been talking about since I picked him up.

Just a reminder that if you want to see Dylan playing Golf, there are only 3 weeks left!

Nathan has an appointment with Shriners tomorrow. I will try to get that post up by tomorrow night.

Babies

And this is one of Seth that I took the other day, He is anxious to get going! He is two weeks younger than Jordan and already climbing up on stuff!

WOW!!!

Nathan did GREAT at therapy yesterday! First in PT & OT, Cindy was working with him on his hands and knees, and he held all of his upper body weight with no help at all!!! Just a few weeks ago he couldn't hold a quarter of his upper body weight, and now he is holding it all! He held it for a minute or so, but this just shows he's getting stronger and stronger! Then, he was playing with oreo cookies, putting them into a jar, and he just started saying "Coookieeee". It was soooo sweet!

Then we went over to Speech, when we first got in there he wouldn't say a word. I tried my best to get him to say Cookie again but he just wasn't doing it. Well, Laura worked with him on animal sounds and environmental sounds. Then he started to get a little more talkative. She got the Piggy Bank out and started counting as he was putting the coins in, after a few times she would say, 1, 2, then Nathan would say "theeeee" then she said 4 and he said "fiiiiive"!!! Those were the only two numbers he would say untill last night I was working with him and he said theee, four, and fiiive! I'm SOOOOOO PROUD of him!

Birth Announcement!

We want to Congratulate Stephanie & Mark on the birth of their Daughter, Addison Reigh (Addy). Born Tuesday October 3, 2006 @ 9:51pm. Weighing in at 5lbs 5oz, and 19 1/4" long.

1...2...no...3 More Teeth!

Last Saturday, Jordan had another tooth pop through. It was on the top, the one beside his front teeth. Well then I started looking today and he has 2 more coming in. Both are on top, one is the front and the other one is on the other side of the front teeth. He took a while to start cutting them and now he is popping them like popcorn!

Understanding and Communicating

The other day I was telling Nathan to say Ma Ma, but he would shake his head "no" and say Da Da. Well I was talking to Momma yesterday on the phone telling her the story and I sat down in front of Nathan on the floor and he looked at me and said "Ma Ma"! He understood what I was saying on the phone. Then about a week ago I was feeding him his lunch and he started saying "nap,nap,nap" (In his language). I asked him if he wanted to go take a nap and he smiled and shook his head "yes". When I put him to bed he went to sleep.

This is really good because we are now seeing signs that he does understand things that we are saying. And he is starting to communicate.

Also, over the weekend he said Grandma, and he started trying to wave bye like Jordan does.
