Coloring Fun

After lunch today, I put Jordan in his play saucer and Nathan in his walker. I decided to give Nathan a piece of paper and a red crayon so he could color. I walked out on the porch for maybe 3 minutes and when I came back in Nathan had a red face! Yep, he decided to eat the crayon and stick it up his nose! He just gave me that look like, what did I do? The end of the crayon is having to dry before I can put it back in the box, I didn't know crayons could get so soggy.

In other Nathan News, Nathan and I went to Momma's Friday to pick Jordan up. While we were there, I put Nathan down so that he was standing in the floor. I asked him if he wanted to walk, then I would slightly push the back of his heal with my foot. After a couple of times doing that, he started taking steps on his own! He walked across Momma's living room!

Then, Friday night we went to the Bantam Chef to eat. Dray had fish broke up in his plate for Nathan. All of a sudden Nathan picks up a piece of fish and put it in his mouth! He seems to be doing something new everyday.

New Neurologist

Nathan went to his appointment with his new Neurologist this morning. His name is Dr. Morales, his office is in the Childrens Hospital in Greenville. I like him so much better than his old Neurologist, Dr. Lagarda. She's the one that asked me with a hateful tone if I had taken my prenatal vitamins while I was pregnant. She acted as if it was my fault the cyst was there. This doctor said that it is common in people with Agenisis of the Corpus Callosum, to have a cyst where the corpus callosum would be. He said it was rare for the cyst to be bad enough to have to do surgery. They have to do another MRI to check on everything.

(Excuse the blurriness of the picture, I had a hard time getting him to smile. So I just snapped when I could, and I was moving)

They have scheduled the MRI for Nathan on August 23. We have to push fluids the day before, so his veins will open up for the IV. He can't have any food after 7:30 that morning, and no liquids after 11:30. He has to be there at 1:30. If you remember, last time he was put to sleep he acted funny for a few days. So I have been hesitant about him having another MRI. I hate him having to be put to sleep but at the same time I want to do what is best for him, and he does need this done again. Please remember him in your prayers, that he will do okay under the anesthesia.

Another thing that the Doctor addressed today was Nathan not feeling pain easily and not having much of a reflex. He said that you do see that sometimes in people with brain problems. And they will look for that in the MRI. But if that isn't the case, he could have nerve problems. And the way they test for that is to (the way I understand it) send some kind of shock through his body, through his feet. The doctor said that it was a little painful. Hopefully he won't have to have that done.

I finally found the website with the music videos that you can put on your blog. You can scroll to the bottom of this page to see the video. I picked this song and video, of course because it is from the movie "Cars" and I know Dylan will like it.

Tippy & Oscar

We have two new additions to our family. They both are boys. We got them Wednesday from Pam & Rick. Their Dad is a full blooded Boston Terrier. Their Mom is a mixture of three different dogs, I think. Tippy is Dylan's and Oscar is Dray's. Now,if we can just get them trained to go out or use the puppy pads...

I know you all have seen that commercial for the power wheelchair. The song goes: "You made me love you, I didn't wanna do it". Nathan was singing it today. Well it was him lala-ing the tune. But that's the thing he can mimic the tune of the song! That's our Nathan, full of surprises.

Great News from Florida

I found out the other day that Matthew & Katie are moving to Charleston in November. I'm so glad that they will be closer. Maybe now we will get the chance to visit them.

Good Luck with the move. We hope everything goes smoothly.

Two Sick Boys

I took Dylan & Nathan to the doctor yesterday. They both have a bad cough and are sneezing. Dylan ran a fever before we went to the beach. Nathan ran a slight fever Saturday night and Sunday morning. Neither of them has the fever now. Dylan had a harder time with the fever. Nathan is having a harder time with the coughing & sneezing. The doctor gave them an antibiotic. They take it once a day for three days. I'll keep you all updated on how they are.

Home Sweet Home

We got up Tuesday morning ready to enjoy what was left of our time at the beach.

First, we went to eat breakfast at Woodhaven Pancake house. Unlike all of the other places we had ate at, the food there was awful. I DON'T recommend this place to anyone. It was the only place that wasn't packed, and after our meal I knew why it wasn't packed.

After we ate we went down the road to Jungle Lagoon to play mini golf. We went there last year and played the Jungle side. We played the Lagoon side this time. We couldn't take the double stroller because of all of the steps. So we took turns holding Nathan and we had Jordan in his car seat. The humidity was almost unbearable. Needless to say our time there was very interesting. By the time we got to the car all of our faces were bright red.

Our final stop was at Eagles, where we got the kids a Myrtle Beach outfit. Dylan is orange & gray with Myrtle Beach wrote on the shirt. Nathan's shirt has I'm the prince we'll do things my way, on it. And Jordan's reads: This is what a cute kid looks like. They're all so cute.

We headed home after that, we got on the road around 3:00 we made more stops coming home than we did on the way down. So we ended up making it home around 8:00.

Even though we didn't want our vacation to end, it was so nice to be home again. I believe the babies were happier than any of us to be home.

Last Full Day at the Beach

It was our last full day at the beach. Pam, Rick & Logan left sometime in the middle of the night. Their room was the one reserved for the entire stay so we moved to their room to stay Monday night. After we got it all moved we got ready to go get some breakfast. All I needed to do was change my shirt which was in the van. Dray started down to get it for me and he asked "Where are the van keys?" I had no idea, he had them last. After we looked all over the room for them, we both thought that maybe he had left them on one of the beds in our old room. So he goes up there and asked housekeeping if they had seen any keys. They said no, but they had thrown the bed sheets down the laundry shoot. So Dray and Dylan go down to the van and what do they find? The keys, in Nathan's car seat! Doors Locked! In Myrtle Beach! So we have to call a locksmith to get in the van. $39.95. Which wasn't bad, but still, to cost your self that money just makes you sick. It only took the guy 10 minutes to get there and only 2 seconds to unlock it.

When we got that taken care of we headed out for breakfast. Dylan wanted IHOP so that's where we went. The food was good like always. But the customer service was horrible. There were seats all over the place and the girl seats us in the far back corner. There were no refills, I guess she didn't believe in giving refills. And to top it off she had no personality. It was very apparent that she didn't enjoy her job.

Anyway, after breakfast we took a drive up Ocean Blvd from Myrtle Beach almost to North Myrtle Beach. We had never been that way. We were interested in looking at the houses. Some of them were like mansions. I would hate to see the price tag those houses carry. I just don't see putting my money and my time into a home that could be blown away at anytime 6 months out of the year. Maybe if I had lots of money I would look at it differently.

Back to our vacation.... We went back to the motel to spend some time at the pool. There was a little girl out there that looked to be about 10 playing in the pool with her Mom. They were throwing a ball back and forth. After a while Dylan told the girl to throw the ball to him. So he instantly had a new friend. Her name was Kim, she is from North Carolina and she was in Myrtle Beach for a dance competition. Dylan kept calling her Kim Possible or KP. (For those of you that don't know, Kim Possible is a cartoon on Disney channel.) We had the babies in their floats, they had a real good time. Neither one of them fussed at all. Nathan took a dive face first into the water. Scared the life out of me. He never cried or coughed. He had held his breath which I was so thankful for. He smiled and acted as if nothing ever happened. We all had a great time at the pool. With the exception of me getting upset that Nathan went face first into the water.

Dray got out and went to get us some supper from Burger King. When he got back we all went up to change clothes and eat. After we all were done we went out looking for a place to play mini golf. Dylan loves playing mini golf especially at the beach. All of the places were packed, so we decided we would take him Tuesday morning before we headed home. We figured since it was our last night there, we would go take a walk on the beach. My Favorite! There's nothing more relaxing than being on the beach at night. We actually got the double stroller to roll in the sand. It wasn't easy, but we did it. Nathan wasn't in a good mood while we were there. Jordan was just taking it all in, he seemed to have a real good time. Dylan had fun other than he was very tired and he started crying saying he didn't want to go home he wanted to stay at the beach. We took a lot of pictures and this nice man came by and offered to take a family picture for us. I'm so glad that we got one with all of us in it.

That was about it for our last full day at the beach. Oh, and for the seminar we were supposed to attend, we didn't make it because the keys were in the van.

100th POST

It's my 100th post! I have been posting for about 4 months now, it doesn't seem like it has been that long. I hope you all enjoy reading our blog. We enjoy sharing our adventures with everyone.

Be watching for two new quizzes to take. The questions will be about the things that have been written on our blog. I hope to have them done by Monday.

Sun, Fun & The Ocean

Well, it's the end of our first day here. We had so much fun today.

We started the day off by going to the International Omelette & Pancake House for breakfast. The food was wonderful and they had the best customer service. I haven't seen customer service like that since Momma & I worked at Subway. =)

After we ate we drove down to Surfside to look at the rental houses. We found a couple that are on the ocean with private beach access and the pools are up on the first floor balcony. That is the kind of beach vacation we want to take.

We drove around looking at the houses for a while, then we decided to go get the babies floats for the swimming pool. We ended up stopping at Eagles. They had a "Cars" beach towel there that Dylan wanted so bad. We didn't get it for him because of the price but he has been so good about not asking for things that we might go back tomorrow and buy it for him. We did however buy a big beach umbrella so that we would have some shade while we were on the beach.

We got done there and headed back to the motel to get ready to go to the ocean. We got the babies feed and got changed, then we were off.



First thing when got there Dray buried Nathan's legs in the sand. He liked it at first but after a few minutes he started getting aggravated. So Pam took him to the ocean to rinse the sand off. He liked it until a wave came and water splashed in his face. Jordan really liked the sand. He liked it so much that he decided he would eat it. I had laid him down on a towel while I was doing something with Nathan. When I looked back at him he had a handful of sand going straight to the mouth with it. He had sand every where. In his head, hands, around his nose and mouth. I don't know how much he actually swallowed. He did spit up about an hour afterward, and there was sand in it. I've kept a close eye on him today. You can't really tell in the picture (left) how much sand he had all over him. It was taken right after he got into the sand. Jordan doesn't care for the water too much. He is fine with his legs in water, if you put him in any further he gets upset. At one point I had him where he was okay with the water until it splashed on his head. I sat and held Nathan and Jordan and we played in the sand with sand toys while Dray & Dylan played in the water. Dylan wasn't as scared of the water as he was last year. He went out to where the waves would come up a little above his knees. But when it looked like the wave was too big he would run away from it. While I was in the water with him a larger wave came up and he wasn't expecting it. It was so funny cause you could see how the water picked him up and scooted him inland then when the water died down you could see his little butt. The wave had pulled his pants down. After that when a wave would come, he held on to his shorts.

We all had a great time at the beach today. We were able to stay a couple of hours. The babies did fuss some but overall they did great.

We came back to the room to shower and get ready to go out for dinner. We have sand every where. Once you pick it up, it is hard to get rid of it.

We all went out to eat together because Pam, Rick & Logan are leaving early in the morning. We went to the Texas Roadhouse Grill. They have great food. Dray and I got beef tips. There were so many of them that neither of us could finish them. Dylan got BBQ Ribs and he said they were nasty so he ended up eating off of everybody's plate.

Rick asked Dylan tonight where he got his brain and Dylan said Wal-Mart. I laughed so hard I almost cried. I had to share that one with you all.

Well I gotta get in the bed because Dray has us going to some seminar in the morning, we're supposed to get some money, a vacation and some local discounts for going. It should be a lot of fun...NOT! =)

Last Minute Beach Vacation

Well we made it to the beach. We didn't think we were going until next weekend. But Pam & Rick were leaving Saturday so we decided we would go with them, that way we all were able to save some money.

We left home at 5:26. Around 6:10 we were at the rest area near Newberry. We stopped for a bathroom break. I didn't need to go so I got the babies out to stretch. When I got Jordan out, I held him for about five minutes and when I went to put him back in the van, I noticed that he had pooped so bad that it had went all over his clothes. Dray got him to clean him up when I noticed that I had it all on the sleeve of my white shirt.

We regrouped and got back on the road. By 6:30 both babies were asleep. Dylan on the other hand was wide awake, asking us every six miles, "Are we there yet". He was more antsy about getting there this time than he has ever been. When we told him to stop asking us that, he started asking "What country are we in?" and "What state are we in?" He was being so funny.

We got to the motel around 10:00. We're staying at a Microtel Inn off of 501.

The kids did great with the ride. They got fussy right before we got here. They were ready for their supper and their bed.

I watched the weather when we got in our room, the temperature for Monday & Tuesday is supposed in the Mid 80's and they're not calling for any rain.

I wasn't going to post any pictures till I got home because I didn't think the motel had wireless internet hook up but I do have the wireless connection so I'll put the pictures from today on this post probably tomorrow night. It's late and I got to get some sleep.

4th Celebration Part 1

To start our Independence Day celebration, we went over to Jason's house Monday night, they wanted to celebrate on Monday so they wouldn't have to worry about getting up for work early the next morning.

They grilled hamburgers and hot dogs. (By the way, Thanks for the food your guys. I forgot to thank you the other night.) The food was good.

As soon as we got there, Dylan, Dessa & Joshua got in Dessa's pool. I put Jordan in the water first. He was fine with his legs in the water but when I put him further down he started crying. Hope brought Nathan out and put him down in the water and he loved it. I got him from Hope and held him there as long as my back allowed. I was going to get Dray to hold him in there a little longer since he was enjoying it so much but he was inside. The big kids got out long enough to eat, then they were back in.

After we all ate, they started shooting fireworks. Dray brought Jordan out in his car seat and Nathan sat in his wheelchair. Jordan didn't make it long without crying. I still think that he was mainly tired. Because it was past his bedtime. So Dray took him inside and within 10 minutes he was asleep. Nathan made it a little longer than Jordan. He got real upset after about 20 or 30 minutes into it. So Dray laid him down on Dessa's bed and he went to sleep.

While we were there, Dewayne and his kids came up. The kids have grown so much since the last time we saw them. Dray and Dewayne talked a good bit while Jason & Hope shot fireworks. The kids did get out of the pool while they were there to play with sparklers. They had a ball, especially Dewayne's little girl. They did come before the babies went to sleep. So he got to see all of our kids as well.

Joshua got out of the pool while the fireworks were still going. But we finally had to tell Dylan and Dessa to get out. I believe they would have played a couple of more hours if we would have let them.

After all of the big fireworks had been shot, Dray, Aunt Sherrie and all the kids were inside, Jason & Hope were still standing where they were shooting everything and I was just sitting there taking it easy, enjoying the night, when I see a spark flying at me. I jumped and got ready for a bang cause I thought Jason had thrown a firecracker at me. It wasn't, it was a smoke bomb. Scared me though. It ran me out of my seat, those things smell horrible.

I really hate that I didn't have my camera cause I had so many good picture opportunities. But with 5 kids, whose got time to remember to bring the camera!?

Do I have to?

Today, Dylan went to the eye doctor. He did real well. The doctor's assistant said that she wished all of her 6 year olds did so good.

I asked the girl when I made Dylan's appointment, if they would be using the eye drops to dilate his eyes. She told me no, that the doctor would have to exam him first. Well we get there today and they did a couple of different things then the doctor said they would be using the drops. He got scared. I felt so sorry for him but I knew it had to be done. While the doctor was out of the room he asked me if he could do the drops and of course I had to tell him no. The doctor told him that the first drop was like pool water and the second drop was like rain water, and when her assistant put the drops in to count to 5 and his eye would feel better. Well, she dropped the first drop and Dylan counted 1,2,3,4,5 faster than he ever has. She was ready to do the other eye and he said in his "out of breath voice" "give me just a minute". (Dylan can not stand eye drops.) He counted just as fast after the second and third drops. When she got to the fourth drop, Dylan said real quick "3". The assistant and I both laughed. Then she asked him how he got to three so fast. He was in such a hurry for his eye to feel better he forgot 1 & 2. That might not seem funny just reading it, but I had to share that, cause I thought it was funny.

Anyway, The doctor said that right now he has 20/20 vision. He has a touch of nearsightedness. But that he was fine, and he doesn't have to go back for a couple of years. I told her how he has been squinting and rubbing his eyes. I had also listed on his medical history sheet about his allergies. She said that the squinting and rubbing is more than likely coming from his allergies, and prescribed him some eye drops for it.

I know now that I need my eyes checked. I was half way of where Dylan was reading the letters on the computer screen. I could read the little letters but my eyes were watering when I finished. Then I backed up to about where Dylan was,I had to squint to read the letters, and they were still blurry. My right eye seems a good bit worse than my left.

I feel better now knowing that Dylan's eyes are okay. I just hope that he takes his vision from his Daddy so he doesn't have the problems that I am starting to have.

A House Full Of Kids

I know I haven't posted that much this week, I've been very busy. Not only with the holiday but since Saturday I have had extra kids. Saturday night, Joshua, Dylan's friend from school came over. Then on Sunday Dessa called, needing a place to stay while Hope worked Monday & Wednesday. So from Sunday night till Tuesday morning I had 5 kids. They kept me hopping! Although, I don't think I could handle it full time, we all did have a good time. Joshua went home Tuesday morning and Dessa decided she didn't want to go home Monday night, she was with us until this evening. Judy wanted to keep Nathan tonight so I only have two now. The house is much calmer, but after having a house full, it kind of seems empty.

I wanted to take a picture of the five of them together. But I never got the chance....Imagine That!

Everything went well

Thank you all for your Prayers for Momma. She called me this morning to let me know that everything went okay. The doctor had to do a couple of things, but nothing to worry about. She found out what was going on with her, I know that helps ease her mind. Thanks again for your Prayers.

Please Pray for Momma

Momma is having some procedures done at the Outpatient Center this morning. She had to go on a liquid diet yesterday, and I know that all of this has to be rough on her. Please keep her in your Prayers as she goes through these procedures today.
