On the Grill

I hope everyone had a great Memorial Day week-end! We went to Daddy's yesterday for a cook out, we had hot dogs and hamburgers. We haven't had food on the grill for quite some time now, since we can't have a personal grill at the apartments. So needless to say the food was sooo good! Dray tried blending a hamburger for Nathan but he didn't care for it, so he had some baby food. But Sunday night we didn't feel like cooking so we ate out and we got Nathan a 4 piece Chicken McNugget Happy Meal. Dray blended the nuggets, fries and ranch dressing in my new Cyclone (it's like The Magic Bullet Blender just another name.) It made a bowl full and Nathan ate all but a quarter of it. Yesterday morning he ate his gravy biscuit and then half of mine. He is eating so much better. Lets just hope he continues to eat that well.
It's that time again, school's out for the summer. To kick off the summer vacation, Dessa came over Wednesday after school and stayed with us till Sunday. Her and Dylan had a lot of fun. They got to go swimming at the pool here at the apartment on Friday and then again on Sunday. Nathan got to put his feet in the water on Friday but we haven't put either baby in the pool yet. On Thursday I braved taking all four of the kids to Therapy. Which wasn't as bad as I had expected. There were toys for Dylan and Dessa to play with the first hour. But the second hour we were in a small room for speech therapy so there wasn't much for them to do and they started getting restless. Miss. Laura gave them some orange juice and graham crackers since they hadn't had lunch. Dessa asked me at 10 till 3 "When is therapy over?" I told her soon and then I commented on how good they had been for me. Well that just blew it all out of the water. I guess the sugar started kicking in from their snacks and being cooped up for an hour too. They were up jumping around and pushing Jordan in the stroller, Dylan was even in the stroller at one point. But we made it. And like I said it wasn't that bad.

Hair Cut
(It looks crooked but thats just because it wasn't fixed.)
Tuesday while Dylan and I were at the movies. Papa and Nana took Nathan to get a much needed hair cut. It looks so much better. You can tell he likes it better now that there's no hair getting in his eyes or ears. Also I forgot to tell you all that Cindy weighed Nathan at therapy yesterday and he now weighs 23lbs!!! Everytime he gets sick he loses weight but he always seems to gain it back plus some.

A New Cup

Today was therapy day for Nathan. He got to rub shaving cream all over a mirror. He really enjoyed it too. He smelled so good when he got finished with therapy. He didn't want anything to do with getting on his hands and knees. I figure he hasn't fully recuperated from his illness. Plus he didn't get his nap out before we went. In speech therapy, Miss Laura had a new cup with a straw made by The First Years. (For those of you who do not know, Nathan can't drink from a straw yet.)
This cup is made so that he doesn't have to pull very hard at all. He loved it. He drank and drank, he acted as if he couldn't get enough. I went to Wal-mart this evening with Momma and got him 3 of the cups, with the Finding Nemo design. Luckily Momma was there because I looked in the usual places (up on the wall of the shelf) and couldn't find them I was ready to give up when Momma found them on one of the bottom shelves. Only 1 pack left! Thank You again Momma! I tried to give him something in it tonight but he was tired. All he wanted was his new Pooh Paci. I am very excited about this new cup. I'm hoping that this will eliminate the bottle, at least throughout the day. I'll let you all know how it goes. Nathan also got to draw in therapy. Cindy gave me his drawings after they were done. Aren't they BEAUTIFUL! =)

And The Winner Is....

That was definitely the best Idol Finale EVER! With guest performances from: Live, Mary J. Blige, Toni Braxton, Prince and many more. I could hardly take my eyes off of the television, I was afraid I would miss something or somebody. I'm so happy that Taylor won! I can't want till Season 6!

Over The Hedge

Dylan and I went to see Over The Hedge yesterday at WestGate Cinema. It was the first time just the two of us have went to the movies. We had such a good time. I strongly recommend seeing this movie. It is hilarious! I think I enjoyed it more than Dylan.

4 Month Check-Up

Jordan had his 4 month check-up yesterday. He weighs 16lbs 3oz and he is 25 1/4" long. Which makes him a little above average weight and height. The doctor said he is a strong, healthy baby. But I already knew that.

Improving our blog
I have been doing some work to our blog throughout the day. If you will notice on the sidebar I have made it easy to see how many polls we have, they are random, so don't forget to look every time you visit. Also, If you scroll on down you will see that we now have a picture of the week. Please send me pictures that I can share. Then if you keep scrolling you will see I have made a new quiz. Any new quizzes will be located on the sidebar. Finally, at the end of the sidebar you will notice it says "Subscribe to our family blog" Click the link and follow the directions in the upper right hand corner. Look for more improvements in the future.

First Laugh

Jordan laughed for the first time Friday night. I had just finished feeding him, I was still holding him and he fell asleep. A few minutes later he was laughing. That must be a sign that he has happy dreams.

Getting Nathan Well

It is a trip that Nathan is getting familiar with. If you remember, In July of 2004 he was in the hospital because he stopped breathing. Last June he had to be put in the hospital for dehydration. Once again, he had to go back to the hospital to be treated for dehydration. I took him to the doctor Thursday morning, the doctor said that if he didn't admit him that morning he would end up worse and he would be in the hospital by Thursday night or Friday morning.
It was about 12:30 when I got him there. They actually got the IV in his hand this time. Every other time the IV has been in his foot. They said his veins were flat from the dehydration so they had to call one of their best to give the IV. She got it in on the first try. They started his fluids and he finally got to get some rest.
When he woke up around 7:00 Thursday evening he was feeling much better. The doctor came in Friday morning and said that as long as he could drink and keep food down he could go home around 1:00. Well he was eating and drinking fine but he wasn't drinking good enough for the nurses. I told them around 4:00 that he was drinking like he normally does. So the nurse said if I felt comfortable taking him home I could.
We left around 5:00 yesterday evening. He is feeling real well today. He had a gravy biscuit and tea from Hardees this morning. He has been laughing and talking a lot. He's back to my Nathan! The rest of us are back to normal, and I'm so glad. Hopefully we won't suffer from another stomach virus next year. This is two years in a row now that our whole family has caught it.

Nathan's Party
Before we all got sick we did have Nathan's birthday party. He had a great time. Nathan, Dylan & Dray rode the train while I set everything up. The wind was rough Saturday so I had a lot of fun tying the balloons. The plates and napkins were hard to keep up with too. He didn't have to worry with blowing his candle out. I did light it for him though. He racked up $35.00 in gift cards, he got clothes and some cool toys too. He ate some pizza (well the cheese and sauce) and ate chocolate Sesame Street cake. We missed everyone that wasn't able to make it. I do have pictures to share with you all though. I also want to thank everyone that helped us with the kids. (Jordan was very fussy and Dylan of course wanted to play) You guys really helped to keep the stress level down. Thanks again! Notice the captions at the bottom of most pictures. Enjoy!

Visiting
Katie, Trevor and Allison were up from Flordia this past week. We went to visit them Friday at Papa & Granny's. Both of the babies were upset that day so we didn't get to stay very long. But I did manage to get a few pictures.

My Mother's Day Gifts
(The letter reads: Dear Mom: You are very nice to me. You play with me. You give me presents. You help me everyday. You are good to me. Love, Dylan)
I didn't think I would be getting anything for Mother's Day. I'm not the type that has to have a gift on holidays. I had told Dray when Jordan was born that I would love to have a Mother's ring this year for Mother's Day. To my surprise I got it! Usually if I get a gift it is last minute, so it surprised me that he had been working on it for a couple of weeks. Him and Dylan have even had my cards for 2 weeks. He gave me my ring Saturday night before everyone started getting sick. Thursday night Dylan made me a card when we got home from shoe shopping. And Friday after school he brought me a jar of bath salts and a letter ( in an envelope he had colored) that he had made at school. I may have spent the majority of Mother's day wiping bottoms and cleaning up vomit but I wouldn't trade being a Mom for anything.

Tummy Trouble
When the weekend started I had everything planned, where we needed to go, what we needed to do. And everything was going well until Saturday night after Nathan's birthday party. When we got home Nathan started throwing up. He did that last year after he had ate his birthday cake so I figured that his tummy couldn't tolerate the icing. Boy was I wrong. About 6:00 yesterday morning Dray was throwing up and not long after that Dylan was too! Jordan had thrown up Friday but it was only once. Now he is having dirty diaper after dirty diaper.
All 3 of the kids were running fevers yesterday afternoon. I gave them medicine and it seemed to help a lot. This whole day I was fine other than being tired from only having 3 hours of sleep Saturday night. Around 6:30 last night Dray finally was able to get up and feel well enough to get a bath and give Nathan a bath. I'm so glad he was feeling a little better because it wasn't long after he got up I started getting sick too! So here we were on Nathan's Birthday & Mother's Day and we are all sick.
It wasn't at all what I had planned. Today everyone has stopped throwing up except Nathan, he is having the toughest time with it all. Dray, Dylan and I all have a headache and our stomachs are still upset. Hopefully we all will be back to normal soon. The kids have an appointment with the doctor today at 3:20.

I Demand A Recount!!!

If you keep up with American Idol you know Chris Daughtry got sent home tonight. I couldn't believe it! He deserved to win that more than the other 3. I guess now I'm pulling for Taylor Hicks. Hopefully Katharine McPhee will be gone this week. Dylan likes all of the ones that are left. Watch: FOX- Tuesdays 8:00 / Wednesdays 9:00.

Dylan's Award
(The writing on the picture reads: From sea to shining sea, freedom is not free.)
In November one of the kids parents from Dylan's class who works for the Veterans' Affairs office asked the class to do a banner for a group of soldiers coming home from Iraq. Each student in return received a certificate for their participation in that activity. And this is Dylan's.

100 Book Challenge
Dylan brought home his 100 book challenge stuff yesterday. He has read 396 books this school year! He really enjoys reading and spelling. This year started off with reading being his weak subject. He has improved gradually during the school year. Now he seems to be having some trouble with math. Hopefully that will change because math was never my strong subject and it will be hard to help him as the math gets more difficult. Can you believe this school year is almost over? I can't believe Dylan will be in 2nd grade in a couple of months. Dylan is going to continue reading over the summer and I plan on getting a math workbook for him to work on. That way maybe he can get ahead.

Everything is alright

The surgery was successful! Thank the Lord! Daddy had his surgery this morning. It was supposed to take an hour and forty-five minutes, but it took a little longer which had me on edge for a while. But Judy finally called and said everything went well. He was awake for the whole thing. He said they strapped him down at his legs, arms and head. Then they put a cloth over his face and he is claustrophobic. He is sore, which is to be expected. Other than that he seems to feel pretty well. I want to thank you all for your prayers.

Update on Daddy
Daddy is going to have surgery this morning. They are going to go in through his neck and his stomach, to try to unclog an artery. They also said they may put in a pacemaker. His heart rate finally came down Sunday but not until they gave him medicine that could have made is heart stop all together. Thank the Lord he made it through that okay. They were going to do the surgery yesterday but they thought he may have some sort of disease around his heart because he does have fluid around it. But everything checked out okay so they have decided to do the surgery today. Everyone please keep him in your prayers.

Dylan...on eBay???
Today Dylan was on the computer. He had asked me to type in www.chickenlittle.com but I told him he could do it and I went back to what I was doing. A little while later he asked me what our street address was so I told him. Then he came back wanting to know how to spell Boiling Springs. So I figured I would check out what he was doing. To my surprise he was on eBay trying to register. He had found a Chicken Little toy and wanted to buy it. Hahahaha! The only way I could figure out he got on there was he did a search on Chicken Little and that was one of the things that came up. I thought it was so funny. That just goes to show you how smart kids are these days. When I was his age I didn't know what a computer was. Oh yeah, I want to let everyone know that we have planned Nathan's birthday party and I am going to try to have all the invitations in the mail tomorrow. Sorry it has taken me so long.

Please pray for Daddy

Daddy had to go to the hospital tonight because he was having pains in his chest again. His heart was beating so hard that he could feel it in his stomach. Pam just called me and said that they were admitting him. At this time they don't think it was another heart attack but they're still not sure. His pulse is really high and they haven't been able to get it down since he has been there. It has taken 2 or 3 doses of morphine to ease his pain. For those of you who don't know, Daddy had a series of heart attacks in November and he had to have double bi-pass surgery. Everyone please keep him in your prayers.

Spring Fling!

We took Dylan to Spring Fling today. He had so much fun. Pat & Dale came too so he got to ride some with Jacob and Carrie. The only bad thing was the lines for the rides were like a 20 to 30 minute wait. He got to slide, climb a rock wall, jump in a few of those inflatable bouncy houses (or whatever they're called), he rode the helicopters and even got to ride a pony! Needless to say, we spent more time in line than anything else. There were a couple of rides that he wanted to ride but the lines were extremely too long. So after he finished out all but 3 tickets, he said he was thirsty so we went to Bryant's concession stand to get him a drink and us all a funnel cake, while we were waiting in line he said that he was tired and ready to go home and that his legs hurt. It takes a lot for Dylan to get so tired, so after that I didn't feel so bad that I was so tired. I forgot to bring my camera along and I was disappointed because I wanted to have pictures to post but atleast I got this one from the pony ride. =) Have a good night.

Guess what Nathan has learned....

I was giving Nathan his bath today when I noticed that when I was pouring the water out of the cup rinsing him he was trying to grab the water. So I started pouring it out in front of him, and he tried to grab the water with his index finger and thumb! This is really good because he hasn't been grabbing with those fingers he has always tried to grab with his whole hand. Then, when I got him out of the tub I had him on the bed putting his diaper on, well I noticed that he was getting a rash so I had to put cream on him, when I started doing that he raised his head and the top of his back off of the bed! He was looking to see what I was doing. He has never done that before either. Well, as I was putting his diaper on I notice that he was looking at me through the mirror on the headboard of my bed. (I had my back to the mirror). I turned around and played peek-a-boo with him and didn't think much of it. When I picked him up he went straight for my ponytail. So that tells me he has learned what a mirror is all about! I'm so happy!!! SCROLL DOWN FOR QUIZ!
